Why?!?

Mark 4:36-40 And when they had sent away the multitude, they took him even as he was in the ship. And there were also with him other little ships. (37) And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. (38) And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? (39) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (40) And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith?

 

Yes, it is time to confess. For the last two weeks, I have been in the storm, on the deck of the ship being tossed to and fro, while my Lord has been resting in peace! How often do we (myself included) find ourselves in the midst of a storm? The first thing we all do is look for ways to escape. We try to fix the problems ourselves. We run to our friends and family for help. We look to do everything we can do in our own power. Only after we fail, we turn to God. HOW BACKWARD!

The Lord is there waiting for us to come running to Him for help. He wants to help his children so we can give HIM the glory! So, why don't we? I suppose part of it is our nature. We are bent toward the flesh. Our desire is to sin, and fretting over some of the silly things we fret over is sin.
